Privacy at Peel Business
This page describes what this directory does with personal information today. The operator’s legal name, ABN and postal address are not published here. They are added to a tax invoice only after an administrator enters them. A separate privacy contact is not published on this site yet.
What is collected
- Account name, login email and a password hash, only when sign-up is open and you create an account. While sign-up is closed, the join page does not create an account.
- Listing details you submit when sign-up is open: business name, locality, category, public phone, public email, website and summary. Featured listings can also include a bio and up to four photos. Basic and Featured can include one logo.
- Blog text you submit from an account.
- Invoice records and the bank reference an administrator types when a deposit is reconciled.
- Contact-form messages only when an administrator has turned the contact form on. While it is off, the contact page shows no form and does not store a name, email, or message. A direct submission is rejected and is not stored. When the form is on, the message is kept for an administrator to read in the dashboard. The form does not send email.
- If you tick the optional news box on an open sign-up form, a consent record with the time, the source (the sign-up form) and the consent version. If you leave it unticked, the address is not on the active news list.
- Mail records for transactional messages, only after transactional sending is turned on: welcome, listing decision, invoice, story notice and password reset. Each record can show whether the mail server accepted it, or whether a person later confirmed it arrived. Acceptance by the mail server is not treated as delivery. While transactional sending is off, those messages are not sent.
- A short-lived hash of an IP address for rate limits. A stored contact message does not keep the raw IP address.
Why
To run the directory, review listings before they are public, invoice Featured listings, send messages about your own account when email is turned on, and send news only where you opted in.
Where it is kept
In the WordPress database on the host, and in a private file directory for listing images. Images are not given a public file address. Until a listing is approved, only the signed-in owner can open their images through the site. After approval, the public listing can show the approved logo and, for an active Featured listing, the approved photos, still through the site rather than a raw upload link.
When an administrator has saved an authenticated TLS mailbox and turned transactional sending on, the site can send welcome, listing, invoice, story and password-reset messages through that mailbox. News email is separate and is not sent as a bulk campaign from this site. You can unsubscribe from news at any time. Unsubscribing does not delete your listing.
What is not added
There is no advertising network, no analytics service and no card-payment provider in this directory.
Who can see it
You can see and edit your own listing. Other visitors see a listing only after it is approved. The news list and consent records are not on any public page. Administrators can export them from the dashboard.
